Then came Roger Raglin.

Before his video career took off, Roger spent nine years in higher education, earning four college degrees, including two master's degrees—one of which was from the prestigious Duke University. But academia couldn't keep him away from his true passion. 

His breakthrough came in 1987. Roger had scheduled four fall hunting trips in an attempt to shoot a single-season North American deer slam. At the suggestion of his guide, Duane Adams, Roger decided to put a camera behind him to document the journey. With a $17,000 investment backed by his wife, Darlene, his very first feature film, "Grand Slam of Deer," was born.

An Oklahoma native with a deep passion for whitetail deer and a personality too big for a standard TV frame, Roger launched BKS Productions. He brought the camera into the stand with him in a way that made the viewer feel like they were sitting right next to him. His company became one of the most prolific in the history of the sport, producing over 60 full-featured hunting entertainment videos distributed globally everywhere from Walmart to Cabela's.

The Myth: Setting the Standard for Whitetail Success

Beyond the entertainment value, it’s easy to forget just how incredibly skilled Roger Raglin is as a woodsman. The "myth" is backed up by an unbelievable, certified track record.

Nicknamed "America's Whitetail Deer Hunter," Roger has taken whitetails in nearly 40 different U.S. states and 5 Canadian provinces. His trophy room is a testament to historic woodsmanship, boasting: 

• Over 170 bucks topping the 120 Boone & Crockett mark.

• More than 100 bucks scoring over 140 B&C points.

• 10 massive bucks scoring more than 180 B&C.

• 3 legendary bucks topping the 200-inch mark.

While the historic exclamation itself dates back centuries as a euphemistic twist on Latin phrases, Roger adopted it as a clean, family-friendly way to let his adrenaline burst on camera. There are few catchphrases in the industry that are as recognizable as this one.

The Hall of Fame Legacy

Roger’s sweeping popularity peaked on traditional television when his hit show, Roger Raglin Outdoors, became a staple on the Outdoor Channel. In 2009, his impact was permanently cemented when he won a historic three Golden Moose Fan Favorite Awards in a single year for Best Hunting Show, Best Host, and Best Overall Production. 

To top off a historic career, Roger was officially inducted into the National Outdoor Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. 

A man of many unexpected talents, when Roger isn't scouting land or managing his 2,000-square-foot studio office, he is actually an accomplished pianist who has produced his own gospel and jazz CDs!

While the format has changed from VHS tapes to digital streams, the heart of what Roger created remains timeless. He taught us that hunting isn't just about the score of the antlers; it’s about the passion, the adrenaline, and the pure fun of being out in nature.
